Following a heated UEFA Champions League clash between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid CF, UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has sanctioned three Real Madrid players—Antonio Rüdiger, Kylian Mbappé, and Daniel Ceballos—for violations of Article 11(2)(b) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, which pertains to the “basic rules of decent conduct.”

Summary of CEDB Sanctions:

  • Antonio Rüdiger has been fined €40,000 and handed a one-match suspension from UEFA club competitions.

  • However, the suspension is not immediately enforced and will remain under a one-year probationary period, meaning Rüdiger will only miss a match if he commits a similar infraction within the next 12 months.

  • Kylian Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid last summer, received a €30,000 fine along with an identical one-match suspended ban, also contingent on his conduct over the next year.

  • Daniel Ceballos Fernández was issued a €20,000 fine, without any accompanying suspension.

Importantly, Vinícius Júnior, who was also under scrutiny during the post-match review, was cleared of any wrongdoing, and no disciplinary proceedings were opened against him.
