Georgia visits and offers 4-star safety Chace Calicut

Recruiting Q&A - 2025-03-25T174045.386

Houston North Shore four-star safety Chace Calicut has four official visits locked in to his top schools and is working towards a college decision. He received a big new offer on Tuesday.

Georgia defensive backs coach Donte Williams was in the Lone Star State this week and stopped by to visit Calicut.

The visit included an offer from the Bulldogs, the blue-chipper announced:

While there’s plenty of work to do, Georgia is now in the mix for the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder and will look to compete with Texas, Michigan, Washington and Ole Miss.

The Bulldogs continue to recruit the defensive back positions well and will now look to make a serious move with Calicut.

He took his first official visit over the weekend, getting back to Oxford to see Ole Miss.

Washington is up next on May 30, while Texas (June 13) and U-M (June 20) are currently set to round things out.

Calicut is looking to make a decision before his senior season.

Texas is the team trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, though Calicut recently told On3’s Chad Simmons that the other three schools have made things “a little tighter.” Could Georgia join that race?

Calicut is the No. 127 overall prospect and No. 11 safety in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 20 player in Texas.

He played for one of the nation’s top high school football teams last season.

North Shore went 14-2 and finished as the No. 12 team nationally and the No. 3 team in Texas, according to the On3 Composite Rankings.

Calicut will be a crucial piece to the Mustangs once again this fall, with former teammates Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Devin Sanchez (Ohio State) and four-star linebacker Charles Ross (LSU) among those that have departed for college.

Georgia has six commits in its 2026 class to date. Long Beach (Calif.) native and IMG Academy (Fla.) four-star safety Zech Fort is the lone DB in the mix thus far.

He ranks as the No. 120 recruit and No. 10 safety nationally. The UGA class ranks No. 17 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Scout’s Take on Chace Calicut

Last month at Overtime’s OT7, Calicut was a top performer and earned plenty of praise from On3 National Scout Cody Bellaire:

“The long and athletic defensive back Chase Calicut was all over the field once again for SFE on Sunday,” Bellaire wrote. “The Day 1 Top Performer continued his impressive showing out here this weekend by getting involved at the catch point again on Sunday.

He has such an impressive trigger to the football which allows him to meet receivers at the football.

But it was his length and reaction skills that were the highlight of his performance on Sunday getting into passing lanes forcing plenty of errant throws throughout the day.

Calicut has proven he can truly thrive in coverage and has some of the best ball skills in the country.”
