If you’re looking at the most-streamed movies on Netflix right now, you’ll find that Tom Hardy’s action romp, Havoc, has dropped to the number two slot and has been replaced by a German action movie called Exterritorial. While wildly popular right now, this movie is also, paradoxically, under-the-radar.

Even stranger than its twisty plot is that there is no critical consensus on the movie. It’s not that Exterritorial has a low Rotten Tomatoes score; it doesn’t even have a Rotten Tomatoes score.

As of Friday, May 2, Exterritorial is riding high on the Netflix charts, but has only five reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and fewer than 60 ratings from regular audiences.

This means that a ton of people are watching this movie, but few are talking about it online. So, should you watch this German action-thriller?

The answer is — why not? The movie Jeanne Goursaud as Sara, a former soldier with PTSD, who believes that she has lost her son randomly in a building.

However, as she frantically tries to find her son, she has to fight a bunch of baddies, which all starts to suggest that maybe her basic reality isn’t what she thinks it is. Is her son real?

Was she really in this building by accident? These are the basic mind-f*ckery questions that Exterritorial is asking at all times.

While the movie isn’t exactly on the same level as a M. Night Shyamalan film, the combination of reality-bending and high-stakes action is decent.

Plus, because this is a German-language film, and it doesn’t have any real chatter in the US, it’s one of the few movies you can binge right now where you won’t have any preconceived ideas.

The movie is technically from 2023, but it’s new to Netflix in the US as of right now.

And as it is the number one movie people are watching on Netflix right now, it’s definitely worth a little bit of your time.
