Al Nassr won the game 2-0, with Jhon Duran scoring the first in the 75th minute.

However, Ronaldo’s penalty miss came when Al Nassr were deadlocked with Al Khaleej.

It was clearly a frustrating night for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who also took to social media after the final whistle.

He said: “One of those nights where the ball just didn’t want to go in… until it did.”

It was Al Nassr’s final home game of the season in what has been a disappointing campaign.

They are a massive 13 points behind title winners Al Ittihad, while they have also failed to qualify for the AFC Champions League.

Ronaldo is out of contract at the end of the season and has not yet penned terms on an extension.

There has been some speculation that he could sign for a club who are at the Club World Cup and then re-sign for Al Nassr.

He could even be reallocated to another Saudi Pro League club.

An unnamed Brazilian club has reportedly made an offer to the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus superstar.

Ronaldo was seen waving to the fans who watched him, with some speculating that it could be him saying goodbye.

If he does go back, there is likely to be a new manager in the dugout.

It has been reported that Stefano Pioli will be sacked at the end of the campaign.

Addressing the speculation at the end of the game, Pioli said: “Do you want me to comment on this news? I don’t talk much about the future within the club.

“The most important thing is winning and ending the season by winning the next match. I don’t always talk about the future.

“If the club wants to contact me, I’m always available.”
