Andy Robertson posted on social media in response to the news that his “brother” Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool this summer.

Arne Slot and his Anfield predecessor Jurgen Klopp have both had two of the world’s best full-backs to call upon, with Robertson and Alexander-Arnold constant sources of quality down both the Reds’ flanks.

Although Slot’s maiden season on Merseyside has culminated with a Premier League title at the first attempt, his second will be without Alexander-Arnold after he confirmed his exit from Anfield on 5 May.

A big-money move to Real Madrid beckons once the 26-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Liverpool’s search for a long-term successor to Alexander-Arnold is already underway.

Alexander-Arnold sent message by Liverpool ‘brother’

Alexander-Arnold’s imminent exit from Liverpool will be the first of many changes at Anfield this summer, as Slot looks to build on his impressive debut season with further success and silverware the target.

Robertson is another player who could be on his way out of Merseyside, with Liverpool fans ready to see an upgrade at left-back after Robertson’s display in their 3-2 Premier League loss to Fulham last month.

For the time being though, Robertson appears set to stay put at Anfield, and he wished Alexander-Arnold well with a post on his Instagram story (5 May) in the wake of the latter announcing his departure.

Robertson said: “Brother for life!! We’ve been through it all together! I will miss you legend.”

Liverpool defence set for summer transfer overhaul

Robertson remains a key figure in Liverpool’s dressing room despite his performance levels being on the decline this season, but with the Scotland captain now 31, plans will soon he in place to find a successor.

Slot’s search for a right-back is more immediate with Alexander-Arnold bound for the exit, as Mick Brown told Football Insider in March that Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is at the top of the Dutchman’s shortlist.

On the other side of defence, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is the number one choice to take Robertson’s mantle, and after Football Insider revealed Kerkez “100 per cent wants to join Liverpool” this summer, the Reds will surely make good on their interest soon.
