Angel Reese Receives Punishment for Actions in Chicago Sky Game

Angel Reese Receives Punishment for Actions in Chicago Sky Game.

The Chicago Sky started this season with four losses in their first five games after going 13-27 last season.

On Saturday, they looked to improve their record a bit when they visited the Dallas Wings.

This matchup was billed days ago as one between Angel Reese, last year’s runner-up in the Rookie of the Year balloting, and Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 pick in this year’s WNBA draft. But Bueckers was placed in concussion protocol just days ago, which took plenty of the luster away from this game.

Yet, there was still some spice to this contest. At one point, Reese got into some extracurriculars with Wings forward NaLyssa Smith, and both women were hit with technical fouls as a result.

Reese ended up going just 4-of-13 from the field, although she did finish with nine rebounds and three steals.

She has been struggling mightily with her shooting since coming into the league, although she has thus far been a dominant rebounder.

She has also earned a reputation as a chippy player.

In Chicago’s season opener two weeks ago versus the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark committed a somewhat hard foul on her, and she got up and charged at Clark while talking trash at the Fever star.

On Saturday, the Sky managed to get past the Wings by a final score of 94-83.

Ariel Atkins led them with 26 points, while Smith logged 20 points and blocked three shots for the Wings, who are now 1-6 on the season.

In a week, the Sky will take on the Fever, this time at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

However, Clark will likely be unable to play due to a strained quad.
