In the Fever’s blowout win.

On Saturday, May 17 the rivalry between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark was on display once again as the Indiana Fever blew out the Chicago Sky 93-58 to open the season.

The game wasn’t complete without an incident between the two, who have been rivals dating back to their national title face off when Reese and the LSU Tigers took down Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

This time around Clark received a flagrant foul for going after Reese after she came down with a rebound.

But Clark wasn’t the only one punished in the incident.

Fever star Aliyah Boston received a technical foul for a “physical taunt,” according to the officiating crew.

“The foul on Clark met the criteria for Flagrant Foul 1, for wind up, impact, and follow through for the extension of the left hand to Reese’s back, which is deemed not a legitimate basketball play, and therefore deemed unnecessary contact.

After the foul, there is a physical taunt technical on Boston and a verbal technical on Reese, which offset,” an official said after the game.

Upon learning of the technical foul, Boston was beside herself until Clark agreed to pay the fine.

Fans loved the moment.

“AB is a pure soul and a force on and off the court. We must protect her at all costs,” one person said.

“Also, I love how CC didn’t shy away from a tough question, and didn’t let the interview get off track,” offered another.

“Good for Caitlin. Both her and Angel have tried to defuse this … hopefully everyone treats it the same way,” added a third.

Clark, meanwhile, did her best to downplay the incident with Reese.

“Let’s not make it something that it’s not,” she said. “It was just a good play on the basketball.

I’m not sure what the ref saw to upgrade it, and that’s up to their discretion.

It’s a take foul to put them at the free-throw line. I’ve watched a lot of basketball in my life, that’s exactly what it was.

I wasn’t trying to do anything malicious. That’s not the type of player I am.”
