Catalonia Hotels & Resorts, a prominent hotel chain in Mexico, has recently announced significant developments at its Riviera Maya property. Effective November 1, 2023, the Catalonia Riviera Maya and Catalonia Yucatán Beach will operate as separate entities, transitioning from a combined resort to individual hotels.

This change follows extensive renovations at the Riviera Maya property, which are set to conclude by the end of October 2023. The Riviera Maya hotel is also seeking a reclassification from a 4-star to a 5-star rating with local authorities, while the Yucatán Beach will maintain its 4-star status, catering to budget-conscious travelers .

In line with this transition, the hotel has introduced a new room category: the Premium Room. The previous Comfort Room category will no longer be available, and guests can now choose from eight distinct room types, including Privileged suites and romance-themed rooms .

The resort offers a comprehensive all-inclusive experience, featuring multiple dining options such as buffet-style restaurants and à la carte venues like Toscana (Italian), Alebrijes (Mexican), Steakville (grilled meats), Ayami (Japanese teppanyaki), and Catalonia Burgers. Guests can also enjoy various bars and food trucks scattered throughout the property .

For relaxation and wellness, the Alegría Spa provides a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, steam bath, and massage cabins. The resort also boasts a fitness center, golf course, and a Kid’s Club offering workshops, mini disco, and group games

Catalonia Riviera Maya is situated in Puerto Aventuras, approximately 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen. Guests can explore nearby attractions such as the archaeological sites of Chichén Itzá, Cobá, and Tulum .

In response to guest feedback, the resort has acknowledged areas for improvement, including beach conditions, pool cleanliness, and room maintenance. Management has committed to addressing these concerns to enhance the guest experience .
