Angel Reese made WNBA history again on Tuesday night by becoming the fastest player to reach 500 career points and 500 career rebounds.

The second-year forward marked this milestone by dropping a 13-point, 15-rebound double-double against the Phoenix Mercury.

It still wasn’t enough for the Sky, though, as they suffered their fourth straight defeat to open the new season. Despite Reese’s strong play, Chicago still lost out, 94-89.

It wasn’t just Reese who came to play for the Sky, either. Veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot put up a strong double-double in this one as well, with 15 points and 11 assists, to go along with four rebounds and two steals in 36 minutes of action.

Shortly after the final buzzer, the Sky took to social media to announce Vandersloot as the Player of the Game.

“double double for 2020” the Sky captioned its post.

Unfortunately for Vandersloot, this honor is overshadowed by the fact that her team has now lost all four of its games this season.

The Sky came close to securing their first victory of the year on Tuesday night after being in the lead for the majority of the game.

Chicago let Phoenix crawl their way back in this one, though, with the Mercury securing a 74-73 lead at the seven-minute mark of the fourth quarter.

Phoenix ended up outscoring Chicago, 27-18, in the final frame, which ultimately led to the Mercury escaping with a five-point win.

The Sky’s next chance to get their first win of the season will be on Thursday when they host Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings at Wintrust Arena.
