Former Wisconsin Badger Gus Yalden is transferring from Seton Hall after one season.

• Yalden, a former four-star recruit, averaged 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in 26 games for the Pirates.
• The 6-foot-8 forward will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next school.

Former Wisconsin center Gus Yalden entered the NCAA transfer portal on Friday, according to 247Sports’ Travis Branham.

Yalden played the 2024-25 season at Seton Hall after beginning his career with the Badgers. In 26 appearances with the Pirates, the former four-star recruit averaged 8.4 minutes, 1.8 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.3 steals and 0.2 blocks, while shooting 36.7% from the floor.

The La Porte, Indiana, native was Greg Gard’s highest-ranked commit in the class of 2023, joining the program as the No. 122 overall player in the class and No. 17 center. Unlike fellow 2023 commits John Blackwell and Nolan Winter, Yalden did not see the court his freshman season, mostly due to off-court issues.

The former top recruit then entered the transfer portal once the 2023-24 campaign concluded.

After one year at Seton Hall, Yalden has reentered the portal with three years of eligibility remaining.

Yalden’s best performances with the Pirates were an 11-minute, eight-point, three-rebound outing in a Dec. 8 loss to Oklahoma State, a 10-minute, six-point, five-rebound game in the team’s Nov. 9 loss to Fordham and a 13-minute, six-point, two-steal contest during its Feb. 18 loss to Marquette.

Seton Hall as a team finished 7-25. That included a seven-game losing streak to close the season, plus 16 losses in its last 17 games.

Wisconsin, meanwhile, is guaranteed to be looking for forward depth in this year’s transfer cycle. Winter and 2024 transfer Xavier Amos each return to lead the room, while starter Steven Crowl and bench contributor Carter Gilmore are both gone to graduation. Yalden’s departure after the 2023-24 season contributes to the program’s current lack of frontcourt depth.
