A low-key school event in Queensland was treated to some Gout Gout magic with the sprint sensation breaking the magical 10-second barrier for the 100m.

Unfortunately it won’t appear in the record books as it was hand-timed with the teenager shocking onlookers by stopping the clock at an incredible 9.94 seconds.

Gout, 17, has previously gone sub-10, clocking 9.99sec with an illegal wind back at the Australian championships in Perth in April.

The Year 12 Ipswich Grammar School student was using the school event on Friday night as a competitive training hitout ahead of next month’s world cha`mpionships in Tokyo.

His manager James Templeton described the performance as a “nice little warm-up” ahead of his major championships debut in three weeks time.

Gout won’t run in the 100m in Tokyo, preferring to focus on his pet event the 200m where he will clash with the likes of American superstar and reigning world champion Noah Lyles.

He broke his own national record in a brief European trip in June, running 20.02sec at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet in the Czech Republic. His best is an illegal wind-assisted 19.84sec to win the national title earlier this year.
