Kishane Thompson revealed his 100m win in Budapest was not his best execution, but was pleased to finish healthy as he sets his sights on the World Championships.
Olympic 100m silver medallist Kishane Thompson has reacted to his 100m performance at the Gyulai István Memorial, a Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix, on Tuesday night.
Kishane Thompson was flawless as he clocked a stunning 9.95 seconds to cross the finish line first, ahead of Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, who clocked 10.01 seconds.
South Africa’s sprint sensation Akani Simbine rounded up the podium.
Kishane Thompson had a slow start from the blocks but bounced back in time to claim top honours in the race.

Speaking about his performance at the event, Kishane Thompson noted that he was a bit unimpressed with the way he had executed the race.
However, he was glad to have crossed the finish line injury-free as his main focus remains on the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
“It was a solid race, quite competitive.
I came out today to work on some ‘battle techniques,’ as I like to call them. It didn’t feel great, but not bad either, just one of those days,” Kishane Thompson said after the race.

“No real issues, just taking it step by step. Now, I’m heading to Worlds with a positive mindset, aiming to give my best and go for gold.”

The 23-year-old was in action in the men’s 100m at the Racers Grand Prix before heading to the Jamaican Championships, where he dropped 9.75 seconds, the fastest time in the men’s 100m since 2015.
Kishane Thompson then proceeded to the Prefontaine Classic, where he claimed the win in the men’s 100m before anchoring team Jamaica to victory in the men’s 4x100m relay at the Diamond League Meeting in London.
Thompson’s recent exploits at the Gyulai István Memorial, a Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix, imply that he is ready to roar at the World Championships, where he will be up against top athletes including Noah Lyles, Akani Simbine, Ferdinand Omanyala and Oblique Seville among others.
