Luis Enrique has commented on Chelsea star Cole Palmer’s performance against his Paris Saint-Germain side.

Palmer inspired Chelsea to Club World Cup glory after scoring twice in Sunday’s final.

The attacking midfielder also managed to register an assist, setting up Joao Pedro’s goal, which was the Brazilian’s third of the tournament.

Luis Enrique praises ‘very good’ Cole Palmer after Chelsea heroics

Palmer impressed in the semi-finals and it was no different in the final itself.

After the game, Enrique praised the Englishman while admitting that Chelsea had more energy on the day.

Speaking about Palmer following his side’s defeat, with journalist Ben Jacobs sharing his comments on X, Enrique said: “The match was difficult from the very first minute.

Chelsea had more energy. Cole Palmer was very good.”

While the spotlight was on Palmer during the game, it quickly turned to Enrique after the full-time whistle.

Enrique was involved in an altercation with Pedro as things turned ugly at the MetLife Stadium.

It was not a good day out for the 55-year-old, but he will still be delighted with the season that PSG have had after their successes in the Champions League and Ligue 1.

Cole Palmer on Enzo Maresca’s gameplan

Understandably, Palmer is receiving all of the credit for Chelsea’s victory over PSG.

It was the 23-year-old who opened the scoring for the Blues in the 22nd minute before doubling their lead at the half-hour mark.

Palmer, though, has put Chelsea’s success down to Enzo Maresca‘s excellent gameplan.

When Palmer spoke after the Club World Cup final, he said: “The gaffer put a great gameplan out. He knew where the space was going to be.

He tried to free me up as much as possible and I just had to repay him and score some goals.”

In the end, Maresca got everything right, so the Chelsea manager does deserve credit as well.

It has been an amazing debut season at Stamford Bridge for him, with the Blues managing to win both the Club World Cup and Conference League.

Some will now be expecting Chelsea to challenge for the Premier League title after their trophy success and investment this summer.
