Wisconsin basketball is among several programs showing interest in Pittsburgh transfer guard Amsal Delalic.

According to The Portal Report, Wisconsin basketball is one of several programs to have reached out to Pittsburgh transfer guard Amsal Delalic.

Delalic entered the portal earlier this week after one year with the Panthers. He appeared in 21 games with the program, starting two.

That time included averages of 13.4 minutes, 3.8 points, two rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.4 steals on 46% shooting and 35% from three.

The 6’8″ shooting guard had one of his best games of the season in Pittsburgh’s 81-75 loss to Wisconsin in the Greenbrier Tip-Off final: 16 minutes, nine points, one rebound and one assist on 4-of-4 from the floor and 1-of-1 from three.

His other notable performances include 14 points in 28 minutes in a win over Miami, nine in a loss to NC State and eight in a win over Boston College.

According to The Portal Report, the Badgers, Clemson Tigers, Utah Utes and Penn State Nittany Lions are the schools that have shown initial interest in the sophomore guard.

Wisconsin has significant transfer portal needs after seeing its decorated senior class of John Tonje, Max Klesmit, Steven Crowl, Carter Gilmore, Kamari McGee and Markus Ilver depart.

While John Blackwell and Nolan Winter return to lead the team, the Badgers need supporting pieces throughout the lineup.

Delalic would follow a similar mold of some of Wisconsin’s previous transfer additions — a promising prospect who can shoot well from three and has several years of eligibility remaining. Max Klesmit fit those criteria when he joined Wisconsin back in 2022-23 after two years at Wofford.

The 6’8″ shooting guard would be an intriguing addition to Wisconsin’s rotation and new-look offensive approach.

With strong shooting numbers, he’d likely have little trouble earning immediate minutes.

Wisconsin’s transfer pursuits should only increase in the coming days and weeks. Monday began a portal window that extends until April 22 — even as the NCAA Tournament continues over the next few weeks.

As seen in Wisconsin’s addition of Tonje in early May of last year, the period has the potential to transform the team’s chances in 2025-26 and beyond.
